The Pen Tool is used to draw
and manipulate strokes in the Sketch Window. To draw a stroke in the
Sketch Window, choose the Pen Tool, select a color from the color palette and
click and drag anywhere in the Sketch Window to draw.
The color of the stroke indicates
which Melody or Percussion Window will make up the musical
material of the stroke.
The vertical position of the
stroke (up/down) controls the pitch at which this material
will sound.
The horizontal position of the stroke
(left/right) controls the start and stop points of this material
as it plays.
The shape or contour of the stroke
controls aspects of the pitch contour of the stroke contents.
To Create a Contoured Stroke
To create a contoured stroke, either draw the required
shape directly, or with the Pen Tool selected, right click
on the stroke and drag it into the required configuration.
The Pen Tool may also be used to drag
strokes around the Sketch Window. Simply click on a completed stroke
and drag it to the required position.
