Editing Drumbeats

Drumbeats are made in special motive window called Percussion Windows.

Each percussion window has up to ten tracks, each of which may have a different drum sound.

To change the sound of a track, select the track using the Arrow Tool and choose a drum sound from the percussion instruments sub-menu at the bottom of the Instruments Menu. Selected tracks will appear with a highlighted border as the top track in the image.

You can add more empty tracks by extending the percussion window downwards, and make the window longer by dragging the end of the window to the right.

You can ‘hide’ tracks by dragging the bottom of the window upwards to cover tracks. These tracks will still be there but will not sound until they are uncovered.

Placing and editing notes in the percussion window is just the same as in the melody windows.

  Tips and Tricks

Percussion Windows are different from Melody Windows as they allow a number of dfferent voices or sounds to play together. Each voice has its own track.

It is usually a good idea to choose different kinds of beats in each track, and to try to pick beats that suit the instrument sound. For example, hi-hats tend to play fast regular notes, while snare drums tend to play every other beat. Here's an example of a Percussion Window with different kinds of notes.
